GroupM (WPP) foresees a 3,5% hike in advertising spending in 2010

GroupM, part of WPP, estimates that worldwide advertising activity is improving and foresees an increase of 3,5% of revenues this year, to $451 billion in worldwide advertising revenue. For 2011, Group M estimates the growth will be of 4,5%.

According to MediaPost, US will still register decreased advertising revenues, of -1,3% in 2010, to $145 billion. The report estimates that the situation will get better in US in 2011, when the rise will be of 2,5%, to $149 billion.

Internet advertising will continue to attract more and more budgets, despite the economy’s situation and GroupM estimates that this category will represent 10% of total advertising revenues in 2010 and up to 16% in 2011.
