EY Study: Romanians use mobiles everywhere, check them tens of times a day

According to “Mobile devices’ usage” study released by EY for Romanian market, 62% Romanian smartphone users are using this mobile device from 2 to 6 hours a day and two thirds of those using mobiles are checking them early in the morning, in the first 30 minutes after waking up.

In the same time, 41% Romanians aged  25-35 check their mobiles over 200 times in 24 hours, shows the study, that analyzed the perceptions of Romanian users over mobiles’ usage, the accessed content, downloaded apps or the benefits some associate to using non-computer mobiles (smartphone, tablet, mobile phone, phablet, smartwatch or fitness bracer).

The study shows that Romanian users are taking their mobile devices with them everywhere, check them frequently and use multiple mobile devices often during the same day. Top 3 of the most used mobiles on daily basis shows 62% smartphone users, 23% mobile phone users and 18% tablet users are using those devices between 2 to 6 hours a day.

Two thirds of respondents said that, from the moment they wake up until they check their mobile device, top 30 minutes pass. For 29% of them, the morning routine starts with checking the mobile device before breakfast and, sometimes, even before the morning fresh-up.

The increase of the need to be connected is shown also by the frequency users are checking their devices during a day: 52% check it 11 to 50 times a day, 22% – 51 to 200 times, while 41% (people aged 25-35 y.o.) check their devices over 200 times a day.

The industries that offer to the Romanian mobile users the best experience in accessing the information from mobiles are media and entertainment  (63%), financial-banking (52%), tech & IT (47%) and telecom (36%).
