Three Romanian creatives among judges for the 26th ADCE Awards

Creativity, Festivals & Awards

The Art Directors Club of Europe (ADCE) has revealed the juries for the 26th ADCE Awards – the Champions League of Creativity.

Ex-Publicis Romania man Andy Daniluc will judge Interactive & Mobile, representing his new creative agency Cake. JANDL Creative Director Alex Strimbeanu sits on the Film & Radio Jury, and MRM/McCann’s Simona Suman will judge Promotions & New Media.

This year, the ADCE Awards’ judging session will be overseen by new ADCE President Ami Hasan. On his first year in the role, Hasan said:

In the increasingly competitive business climate, agencies are under more pressure than ever to deliver for clients – especially in Europe – a powerhouse of creativity. In my first year as president I’m asking European creatives to demonstrate that they’re more valuable than ever; we know the work is out there, let’s show it to the world.

Creatives from digital innovators Typeform and Google Creative Labs will judge alongside independent agencies such as KOOR, WILD and Vintage. Networks including Jung von Matt, Leo Burnett and M&C Saatchi provide the heavyweight presence. Countries represented stretch across Europe, from Iceland to Cyprus, Finland to Portugal.

On the juries, Hasan said|:

The selection of judges represents previous winners and current trend-setters from a diverse array of nations. No other awards show in the world
attracts talent from such a broad spectrum of independent and network agencies. We’re blessed with a magnitude of talent in Europe, and ADCE Awards will be a celebration of that talent.

In November, Hasan will be joined by the following Jury Presidents:

  • Film & Radio: Chacho Puebla, Chief Creative Officer at LOLA MullenLowe (Spain)
  • Print & Outdoor: Dörte Spengler-Ahrens, Chief Creative Officer at Jung von Matt/SAGA (Germany)
  • Interactive & Mobile: Lotta Mårlind, Creative Director & Partner at Garbergs (Sweden)
  • Design & Craft: Muggie Ramadani, Creative Director & Partner, Bold Scandanavia (Denmark)
  • Promotions & New Media: Susana Albuquerque, Creative Director at Uzina Lisboa (Portugal)
  • Integration & Innovation: Steve Vranakis, Executive Creative Director, Google Creative Lab (UK)

In total, 62 leading creatives and designers have been selected from 22 European countries to judge. In November, the juries will meet to debate the best creative work from across Europe, before awarding Gold, Silver and Bronze across each category, as well as the overall Grand Prix, to be revealed at the ADCE Awards Gala on November 11.

The ADCE Awards are unique in that only creative work that has been awarded at a local European show can qualify, ensuring an elite selection in which every single entry that a judge sees has already been nominated as a standout piece of creative. Submissions should be made online before 6 October 2017.

The ADCE Awards return as part of the European Creativity Festival (9-11 November) at the Disseny Hub Barcelona. Created to celebrate and recognize the art of creativity, graphic design and new creative solutions, the Festival features a packed programme of conferences, workshops, networking opportunities and other activities, delivered by some of the most innovative and inspiring people in Europe.

This year’s theme will be “Imagineering Creative Intelligence”, and has been curated by Kris Hoet. Asked why the festival was taking place, Hoet said:

The next industrial revolution will be a creative one – which is the good news – but you will need to rethink how you work, if you want to play a part in that revolution. This is what we’ll explore at the 4th edition of the ADCE Festival
