Red Cross and McCann Romania use TV microphones to raise awareness over the need of blood for transfusions

Ads, Creativity, CSR

To raise awareness over the acute lack of blood for transfusions in Romania and to turn the subject of blood donations into a permanent presence on small screens, Romanian Red Cross and the National Transfusion Hematology Institute decided to use journalists’ microphones.

The 2 mentioned organizations, together with McCann Worldgroup Romania and McCann PR, launched a call towards the TV stations and journalists, asking them to donate their microphones, the most visible objects during an interview or press conference. Journalists are encouraged to replace their classic microphone with one customized with blood types, raising awareness among those interviewed and among general public.

People need a permanent advertisement when it comes of the need of blood. We hope the journalists will be the first to understand that, with a simple gesture, the need of blood can be always in the attention of the public. We wish that, in the near future, more and more journalist would take over the idea of this campaign

Ioan Silviu Lefter,

General Manager Romanian Red Cross

We want this subject to be “breaking news” even when it isn’t about a tragedy. We hope that, every time we see the microphones at news, we will have there too a symbol of blood donation, a memento telling us blood is needed all the time, not just sometimes

The first to join the cause are PRO TV’s reporters.
