Pitch & Sync launched ‘Spring Residency’, spearheaded by Denise Valk, who joins as Head of New Business for Amsterdam office

Business, Creativity, People

London-born music and sound agency Pitch & Sync have launched a ‘Spring Residency’ set to transform Amsterdam’s historic Meterhuis, a unique period building located on the historic Westergasterrein,  into a creative breeding ground of musical and artistic expression.

The ‘Spring Residency’ concept is the brainchild of newly appointed Head of New Business, Denise Valk who has just joined the team with the mission to deepen the agency’s engagement in The Netherlands.

Denise has joined Pitch & Sync after being involved in the creative industries first as a fashion model, then, following a career switch, a producer for creative agency No Dutch No Glory and an independent marketing consultant. Denise brings a wealth of experience in the creative industries in The Netherlands to her new role as Head of New Business at Pitch & Sync.

Denise:

I’m excited to bring a slice of Pitch & Sync’s flair to this creative quarter of the city. We have some truly exceptional international acts and local talent, and beyond amazing parties and performances, we’re also offering workshops, exhibitions and masterclasses; a whole range of inspirational sound experiences.

The program mixes genres and showcases unparalleled musical talent – including Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), who will offer a performance on Pitch & Sync’s bespoke 10 Octave Piano (April 23rd), a hands-on music production masterclass from Dutch dance music duo, Amy Root (April 16th), and an in-depth ‘Q and A’ with eight piece Afrobeat band, KOKOROKO (April 19th), specialised in a soul shaking, horn fueled sound with West African roots and Inner London hues.

Throughout the month, the Meterhuis location will be transformed in a rotating art exhibition by the ‘Veldhoen & Schiffmacher’ tattoo artists, Collective 416. Henk Schiffmacher is one of Holland’s most well-known tattoo artists famed for inking Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kurt Cobain and Pearl Jam.

Pitch & Sync Founder Alex Lavery says:

With such a long history with music himself, we’re honoured to have Henk a part of this residency. We want to celebrate all things creative – with music at the heart.

Speaking of Denise’s appointment, he added:

Pitch & Sync has been working in Amsterdam since we launched thirteen years ago – and we wanted to do something different, giving back to this culturally rich city by staging a continuous showcase of talent. Denise is a force of nature, and we’re excited to see where her hurricane strength winds will take us by furthering our Dutch business endeavors.

More dates for Pitch and Sync’s Spring Residency will be announced throughout the month, with the agency’s facebook page the main point for updates.
