ADCE president, Ami Hasan, joins Creative Industry Leaders in their support to the Global Climate Strike

Creativity, Festivals & Awards

ADCE president, Ami Hasan, has joined CEOs and Founders from a range of creative organisations who have signed the open letter asking the industry to pledge their commitment to support the global climate crisis. The letter has been signed by individuals from competing creative companies -Iris, Droga5, Weiden & Kennedy, Lucky Generals, BBH, Uncommon, 7Stars, TBWA and MullenLowe- who have united to help address the climate emergency. It asks the creative industry to not only attend the strike, taking place in the UK on 20th September, but also to use their creativity to amplify the climate emergency message at the strikes.

An open brief, entitled ‘Create and Strike’, calls upon creatives from all backgrounds to use their creative talents and resources to ‘create a sign, a blimp, something.’ to support the strikes. It states “If you truly believe that our industry has the power to enact change, then walk away from your desk and use your creativity to get their [millions of young people striking] message heard.”
As an incentive to participate, UKSCN and a panel of creative luminaries will shortlist and award the most impactful ideas.

The topic of the upcoming 6th European Creativity Festival also links with the mobilizations around the climate crisis. This year’s theme will be celebrating the people who are already building a better tomorrow. People who employ their creativity for good, who believe tomorrow’s problems will not exist if we start today. “Tomorrow belongs to all of us, but it needs to be created, protected and nurtured by all of us. Companies will only thrive when they understand that they live in society and not in spite of it”, says Fernanda Romano, ADCE Festival 2019 curator..
