Romanian Cannes Lions 2012 entries presented during RUN project

Monday evening, the team from Cannes Lions Romania presented the agencies and their respective entries for Cannes Lions 2012 during the Run project.

A number of twelve top advertising, PR and media agencies and one client presented the 110 works entered for this year edition of Cannes Lions, within the following categories:

The event started with Dinu Panescu, Group Creative Director McCann Erickson Romania, and some words of wisdom about Cannes Lions, Romanian advertising market and Romania’s most accolades at Cannes, for McCann Erickson “American Rom” campaign.

Afterwards, one by one, Romanian agencies presented the campaigns they entered at Cannes Lions, aiming to receive recognition among their peers. McCann Erickson started the show with “Romanians are smart” case study, a campaign for Rom Autentic (which took a Gold Effie at this years Effie Awards Gala).

They were followed closely by GMP Advertising with “The History Book“, a series of three prints made to promote Romtelecoms HD TV channels, and Timisoareana second “True Football” campaign called “Drumul Mingii” (Football’s ball road), which saw more than 1,000 football suporters from Romania running a symbolic mile en route to the 2011 Romanian football cup final.

Recent Grand Effie winner, Graffiti BBDO presented their Pepsi campaign “Today. The same as yesterday” case and a series of radio spots whilst Next Advertising had two entries: “Zilele Biz” promotional online spot and IQads “Jealousy” TV ad from “Advertising is in our lifes” campaign.

At its turn, Ogilvy&Mather Romania enrolled in this year’s festival ads made for last years Anim’est Film Festival and a few radio spots for Seat. The entered works were just awarded or recognized at Golden Hammer.

Stepping outside of the comfort zone and entering the media agencies turf, OMD Romania submitted for Cannes the first Romanian live TV Ad, for Bergenbier, and “Car factory“, a digital platform were people could customize, share and play with any Dacia model, Romania’s first ever automobile.

Also among media agency, Starcom Media Vest is running with Avon’s “125 years” campaign, that gathered together, in one place, 125 women remarkable for the changes they generated in Romanian society.

Coming back to ad agencies’ land, Propaganda’s entries were mainly for 3 clients: Buzau Bagels viral campaign, Undercloud and Vodafone “Facebook first’s theatre play” and Duraziv viral video ad.

Publicis Bucharest took the stage with print ads for their “Indestructible” Varta Campaign, Romania’s Police “The Prince and the Pauper” campaign,  Oral-B “Bad Breath” campaign and another campaign for Romania’s Police which involved a series of three prints and an activation video called “Bocitoarele“.

The Practice is the only romanian PR agency that had submited a Cannes Lions entry, with their “Meet the Indestructible” launch case study for Varta. Other agencies hoping for accolades are Punct Group, Saatchi&Saatchi Romania, Secret Service, Senior Interactive, Three Bucharest and TVR (Romania’s National TV station), the only client that had an entry.
