Romanian agencies beat the drums yet again in Golden Drum

As it is already a tradition, Romanian agencies received, in Golden Drum’s first day, a total of 4 Golden Drums and 2 Silvers, along with a few shortlisted works.

McCann Bucharest got quite a few awards in the first day of Golden Drum. “Ghita, the Social Shepard” scooped a Golden Drum in Digital, a Golden Drum in Digital campaigns including  Mobile campaigns and a Silver Drum in PR, while “Radar for Good” was shortlisted in Mobile. The agency also had a shortlisted entry in PR, “Prank The Prankster”.

GMP Advertising was shortlisted in Radio with “Broken Toy” and scooped a Silver Drum in PR with “The Good Dog Catcher“.

Geometry Global Bucharest made a good bet with “The RGB News” and scooped the Golden Drum in New or Innovative category and another Golden Drum in PR.

On the other hand, another Romanian agency that made it on the shortlist for last night’s awards was SeniorHyper, with “The Greatest Penalty”.

During the awards ceremony which took place yesterday, Golden Drum’s juries awarded  29 Silver Drums, 15 Golden Drums and 9 Grand Prix in groups D, G, H, N, S, T, R, U and V.

30 networks, 291 agencies from 24 countries have entered 1220 entries in the 21st Golden Drum Competition this year. 393 entries in this year’s competition were submitted by independent agencies which will make the race for Tartini Award one of the most exciting yet! The total number of entries is 12,5 percent lower than last year when 1395 entries were submitted, but Multi Channel section has received 17 percent more entries this year (50 entries more), which shows important development of creative communication campaigns and a strategic shift in agency work this year. The two new groups this year, T. Branded Content and W. Media, received 45 and 56 entries, making them in important development of the Golden Drum competition. Golden Drum competition welcomes Albania as the new country which has entered their works and an important and steady growth of entries from Turkey agencies which have entered 184 entries this year (last year 143, the year before that 77), shows great potential and a strong will to become the most successful entrant country at 21st Golden Drum.

The first Golden Drum festival was organized in 1994, beginning as a modest idea many considered bold and overreaching. Since then, the Golden Drum International Advertising Festival has grown not only into a European manifestation but also into a prominent event noticed worldwide. From Trieste to Vladivostok, from Helsinki to Tel Aviv, the Golden Drum is recognized as one of the biggest, most important and most visible advertising overviews and events of the year. In the two decades of its existence it has gained the reputation of the friendliest among the bigger advertising events. During the past 20 years Golden Drum brought together more than 26,000 professionals from 40 countries all across the world. Over 36,000 entries have been submitted to compete for highly prestigious and cherished Golden Drum Awards. The Golden Drum Festival proudly welcomed numerous advertising and other celebrities as jury presidents, jury members and guest speakers. In 2010, Golden Drum has honoured its most loyal and passionate contributors and supporters in the Golden Drum Hall of Fame for the first time. Since then new members are honoured yearly. Golden Drum is proud to recognize Jure Apih, longstanding president and current Honorary President of Golden Drum, Adrian Botan, Farid Chehab, Michael Conrad, Ivan Čimburov, Meta Dobnikar, Ami Hasan, Jan Mariusz Demner, Jirži Mikeš, Juli Nemes(+), Milka Pogliani, Daniel Ružička, Dragan Sakan(+), Juraj Vaculik, Vital Verlič, Darek Zatorski and Jarek Ziebinski as members of the Golden Drum Hall of Fame.

In a joint venture with affiliated regional festivals from Asia-pacific (ADfest), Ibero-America (FIAP) and the Art Directors Club of Europe (ADC*E), a new global as well as anti-globalist advertising award – The Intercontinental Advertising Cup (The Cup) – was launched. All shortlisted entries in Golden Drum Competition gain an exclusive right to compete for The Cup awards.
