Facebook conquered almost half of Romanians, reached to 8M active accounts 

Mid-March, Facebook reached to over 8M Facebook accounts in Romania, up 5% compared to the start of the year. Also, in the first 3 months of the year, the number of Facebook pages increased 3.4%, from 26.785 in January to 27,697 in March.

Acording to Facebrands.ro and Facebrands Pro, the number of Romanian internet users with Facebook accounts increased by 5% in the three months of the current year, after an increase of 8,57% for the entire 2014, namely from 7M in the start of 2014 to 8M in mid-March 2015.

If the same rhythm maintains also in the next months (…), 2015 could be a year with a higher growth in terms of Facebook users in Romania than 2014

Most Facebook users in Romania continue to be in Bucharest (over 1.64M accounts, close to a quarter of the total number of accounts in Romania – 21.95%), followed by  Cluj Napoca, Iasi, Timisoara, and Constanta (each with over 200.000 Facebook users).

On another hand, the number of cities with over 100,000 Facebook users increased also and they include Craiova, Brasov, Galati, Ploiesti, Oradea, Arad, Bacau, Pitesti, Sibiu and Buzau.

When it comes of Romanian pages on Facebook, their number increased in 2015 from 26,785 to 27,697 (+3.4%), after a 12, 75% for the entire 2014 (from 23,755 to 26,785). Most Romanian Facebook pages are in categories like local businesses (2,993), Arts& Culture (1,718), Health & personal care (1,539), Online Stores (1,565) , Singers and bands (1,336) and Blogs (1,216).
