Evening Standard Chief Executive, Mike Soutar:

I am delighted to appoint James to this critical role. In a strong field of candidates James was outstanding. He is a respected and popular executive who has enduring relationships with our most important clients and agencies. The fact that he is an internal appointment speaks not just of his qualities as a candidate but also of the extraordinary talent and strength and depth of expertise we have at The Evening Standard.
