A new way to experience convenience: Froo launches its first food truck in Romania

Business

Froo’s first food truck in Romania is now serving football fans in the Fan Zone at Piața George Enescu in Bucharest. Visitors can choose from hot dogs, other hot meals and cold drinks, all without stepping away from the action. The launch comes as Froo continues its rapid expansion in Romania, having built a network of more than 230 modern convenience stores in just two years. The food truck will remain in the Fan Zone until 20 July.

The new format reflects changing consumer habits by bringing convenience retail to places where people spend their leisure time. Whether attending sporting events, festivals or other outdoor gatherings, customers increasingly expect quick access to quality food and drinks without interrupting the experience. The food truck enables Froo to meet these needs while testing new ways of reaching customers beyond its traditional store network.

Early customer response shows particularly strong demand for Froo Bistro products, with hot dogs, pizza and Crocantbox emerging as favourites alongside Barefruit juices and snacks. Match screenings generate the highest level of interest, while repeat purchases suggest that visitors are returning to the food truck throughout the event.

Many visitors say they appreciate being able to pick up food without leaving the screening area. They frequently praise the taste and quality of the hot dogs and other Bistro products, as well as the friendly, energetic staff and the good value for money. Visitors also say the truck adds a festival-like atmosphere and makes the Fan Zone feel complete.

“Launching the Froo food truck marks another step in the development of our convenience format. We see it as an opportunity to test new solutions and build stronger connections with customers in the places where they spend their free time. It allows us to bring the Froo experience beyond our stores, become part of important local events and explore how this format could develop in the future,” says Marta Królikowska, Marketing Director, Froo Romania.

Froo’s network spans six cities: Bucharest, Constanța, Pitești, Brașov, Craiova and Ploiești. The brand is part of Żabka Group, which operates more than 12,800 stores in Poland and has transformed the country’s convenience retail landscape. The Bucharest debut marks the first step in Froo’s mobile convenience journey in Romania.

Froo Romania is part of Żabka Group, one of Europe’s leading convenience retailers, bringing a modern proximity store concept to the local market, tailored to the fast-paced lives of urban consumers. Froo stores are designed to meet customer needs throughout the day, offering both everyday essentials for quick shopping and a Bistro area for hot and ready-to-eat products. The offer is designed for consumers who want to quickly satisfy hunger and thirst on the way to work, school, or home, as well as for moments when they need fast, convenient solutions: “Everything you want, in every Froo.” Entering the Romanian market in 2024, Froo has been steadily expanding its presence nationwide.
