Cristian Tudor Popescu stays at Gandul, but only as editorialist

Cristian Tudor Popescu, that was, until today, Gandul newspaper’s director, announced he quits the position in the end of January, remaining within the publication’s team as columnist.

In what concerns the reasons he quitted, Popescu said the performance parameters established for 2008 by Adrian Sarbu, main shareholder of the newspaper, are impossible to reach on the actual reality of Romanian market.

He also said Adrian Sarbu is “unhappy with the editorial politic of the newspaper that, in his opinion, is not matching the level demanded by investments in relaunching the newspaper.

Popescu said he chose to stay Senior Editor of the newspaper, responsible for his own materials, as long as his articles will be considered useful for the publication and as long as he can sign in newspaper’s pages.
