Changes for Discovery Networks’ team in Eastern Europe

Starting February 3rd, Discovery Communications operations in Eastern Europe were reunited under Discovery Networks CEEMEA (Central and Easter Europe, Middle East and Africa) umbrella.

“In the beginning of this year, we officially got together our operations in Central Europe and Emerging markets. After the implementation of that, we decided now to modify also our name, in order to represent integrally the geographic dimensions of the region”, Katarzyna Kieli, Executive Vice President & Managing Director Discovery Networks CEEMEA, said.

Following those changes, the managing team of the company includes now 3 Romanians.

In terms of responsibilities, Dorota Zurkowska-Bytner became Country Manager for Central Europe, covering Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia.

On the other hand, following the reorganization, the Bucharest office of Discovery becomes the most important in South Eastern Europe and covers the following countries: Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegru, Slovenia, Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia, Herzegovina.

The regional management team of the company includes

  • Andrei Grigorescu – Advertising Sales Director Director SEE
  • Gabriela Stoian –  Distribution Sales Manager Romania
  • Mihails Starodubovs – Distribution Sales Manager Balkan Area (Bulgaria, Macedonia, Albania)
  • Victoria Davies – Distribution Sales Manager Balkans (Croatia, Serbia, Muntenegru, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina)

“Those chages are allowing us to work better with our distribution and advertising sales partners so that we can develop a regional approach, aligned with the needs and necessities of our public. Meanwhile, we will continue to offer an excellent content and new channels such as TLC or HD channels”, Phillip Luff, Acting Country Manager – South Eastern Europe, said.

Discovery Channel was launched in Romania in 1997 and, since than, it added to its portfolio 7 channels, among which Animal Planet, Discovery Science, Discovery HD Showcase, TLC and AKTA.

The new Discovery Networks CEEMEA is coordinating 9 TV brands, broadcasted in 18 languages in 99 countries on 3 continents. The operations are coordinated from Warsaw, via offices in London, Moscow, Bucharest and Budapest.
