25 entries for Romania at Eurobest; total number of entries up 11%

Romania has 25 entries at this year’s edition of Eurobest, 5 entries less compared to last year’s edition of the festival, according to the Entry Summary By Country 2011.

Romanian agencies entered works this year in Film (4), Print (7), Outdoor (2), Interactive (1), Direct (3), Media (1), Promo&Activation (2), Design (2), PR (1), Integrated (1), Craft: Film (1). Last year, the entries were as it follows 5 in Film, 2 in Interactive, 2 in Integrated, 5 in Print, 5 in Outdoor, 3 in Radio, 2 in Direct, 1 in Design and 5 in PR.

 

In what concerns the total number of entries for this year edition of the festival, the organizers announced that Eurobest attracted 4,824 entries, 11% more compared to last year.

Entries into the 13 categories from 36 countries will now be judged in Lisbon by 84 jury members to honour the best in advertising and communications at Europe’s largest annual awards and Festival.


According to the organizers, Eurobest has seen a steady increase of entry numbers over the last two years since the economic downturn in 2009. Whilst most categories are up this year, there has been a substantial rise in Film Craft (+80%), Mobile (+76%), Promo & Activation (+30%) and Outdoor (+26%). Direct (+18%), Media (+18%), Design (+17%) and Film (+16%) have also performed well. There has been a slight decrease in the Integrated (-16%), Interactive (-11%) and Print (-7%) categories.

The top submitting countries in 2011 are Germany (1,141) followed by France (616), Sweden (530), Switzerland (345), United Kingdom (303), Belgium (252), and The Netherlands (251).

It’s encouraging to see such growth in the number of entries. It stands testament to Europe’s creativity and proves that the European community are still producing ground-breaking, innovative work that they are proud to submit as award-worthy. All of the entries can be viewed at dedicated kiosks, exhibitions and screenings during the three day Festival taking place from 28-30 November at the Cinema São Jorge in Lisbon, Portugal.

Winning entries will be announced and awarded at the Eurobest Awards Ceremony taking place at the close of the Festival in Lisbon at the São Luiz Theatre on Wednesday 30 November. Additionally, the winners of the Eurobest Network of the Year, Advertising Agency of the Year and Interactive Agency of the Year will be revealed and this year’s Advertiser of the Year honoured. The awards will conclude with the Eurobest After Party

Launched in 1988, Eurobest is Europe’s leading annual awards competition for creative excellence in the categories of Film, Print, Outdoor, Radio, Craft, Interactive, Media, Direct, Promo & Activation, Design, PR, Integrated and Mobile advertising. Since 2008, the awards, which are judged by Europe’s top creatives, form part of a two-and-a-half day Festival themed to identify and engage specific topics that are relevant to the European market. The festival has been held in Stockholm, Amsterdam and Hamburg, where there were close to 900 attendees. Lisbon, Portugal, will be the host city for Eurobest 2011. Organised by the same team behind the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, the Dubai Lynx International Advertising Festival and Spikes Asia, the Eurobest Advertising Festival is a purely European event.
