PayPal announced the appointment of Stanley Wachs as PayPal’s General Manager for Greater Europe (Scandinavia, Central and Eastern Europe and Turkey), a position he will take over from Luca Cassina, who will now be in charge of PayPal’s activities in Western Europe (France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands and Belgium).
Both senior leaders have extensive experience in developing new business models and payment products, forming strategic partnerships with banks and payment networks. Wachs will lead PayPal’s regional business strategy, sales, partnerships and merchant adoption of PayPal’s newest payment innovations to transform commerce. He will also be responsible for developing PayPal into an online and mobile payments leader, as well as expanding the company’s geographic reach, in the fast-growing domestic and cross-border trade markets of Scandinavia, Central and Eastern Europe and Turkey.

Luca Cassina will supervise revenue-driving functions and management of in-country organizations along with the development and execution of PayPal’s strategy to support core business, expansion into non-core financial product segments as well as the definition and execution of PayPal’s partnership strategy with regional key financial service players.

Stanley Wachs joined PayPal in November 2011 as Director of Strategy & Business Development Europe, Middle East & Africa. Prior to joining PayPal, Mr Wachs worked at Western Union, where he held various business development and regional management roles contributing to Western Union’s global foot print expansion. Stanley Wachs graduated from the European Business School and completed INSEAD’s International Executive Programme.
Luca Cassina started at PayPal in 2007 in Italy. Prior to joining PayPal, Luca worked as a Country Manager in Switzerland for Schibsted Classified Media, a global Norwegian company leader in the Media and Classified sector. Luca Cassina graduated with a BA in Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan, Italy.
