Burda acquired Sanoma Hearst in Romania

Burda International GmbH bought all Sanoma Hearst activities in Romania, which leads to the creation of one of the biggest media trust in this country. The newly formed entity owns over 35 titles and over 40 online media services. With this aquisition, Burda romania assumes the leadership in lifestyle international magazines segment, luxury publications segment and mass-market segment.

Burda becomes one of the most important magazines’ published, reaching to over a third of feminine target public in Romanian urban areas. Today, Burda Romania’s portfolio includes Practic in bucatarie – gastronomy themed magazine, best sold in Romania -, Casa Lux, Ioana, Gradina mea de vis and others; to those, there will be added Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Esquire, Men’s Health, Auto Motor si Sport and National Geographic.

The transaction was notified to the Competition Council and its implementation will be made after it will receive authorization.

Burda International GmbH is active on 17 markets, publishes over 230 magazines and offers an extensive number of digital media service. It is a respected publisher in CEE and expands fast also on Asian market. The company has over 2.400 employees
