Romanian agencies aim to go to this year’s edition of Cannes Lions with 151 entries, with the Romanian portfolio for this year’s edition of the festival presented, Thursday night, during the RUN Project for Cannes, organized by Cannes Lions Romania together with Biz Magazine.
Most Romanian agencies that entered works for Cannes Lions this year and aim to qualify for the competition are from Bucharest, with the exception represented by Bizmart Oradea. In total, there are 21 agencies from Romania that entered Cannes Lions this year with a total of 151 works.
In terms of categories, Romanian agencies aimed the most this year for Promo & Activation (28 entries), PR (24 entries), Media (23 entries) and Direct (22 entries). There’s no Romanian presence in Creative Effectiveness, Branded Content & Entertainment and Innovation competitions, and just 1 entry in each Radio and Film Craft competitions.
The Romanian agencies and their entries to this year’s Cannes Lions competition are as follows: 2Active PR (1), BizMart Oradea (1), BPN Romania (1), McCann Erickson Romania (54), CohnandJansen JWT (2), Geometry Global (24), GMP Advertising (5), Graffiti BBDO (5), Kaleidoscope Proximity (4), Leo Burnett & Target (4), Media Concept Store (3), Next Advertising (1), Ogilvy Romania & Ogilvy &Mather Romania (4), Optimum Media Direction (1), Publicis Romania (20), SeniorHyper (2), Starcom MediaVest (2), The Secret Service (11), Three Bucharest (1) .
Among the agencies with previous participations to Cannes Lions competition, McCann Erickson Bucharest upped the most its numbers when it comes of entries – 54 in 2014 compared to 17 last year, followed by Geometry Global (24).
Part of Publicis Romania group, Publicis Bucharest goes to Cannes in 2014 with 20 entries (up from 8 in 2013), while Leo Burnett cuts with more than half its participation, having 4 entries this year (from 10 in 2013). The Practice and Starcom MediaVest are also aiming for a Lion, entering 2 entries each, while iLeo Bucharest doesn’t compete in Cannes this year, after it was present at Cannes last year with 3 entries.
When it comes of Graffiti BBDO Romania group, Graffiti BBDO participates this year with 5 entries, down from 6 last year, while Kaleidoscope Proximity goes to Cannes with 4 entries.
Romanian Ogilvy Group goes to Cannes with 4 entries, one less than during previous year, while Romanian Lowe Group is present with 2 entries submitted by SeniorHyper, 1 from BPN, but none from GolinHarris, which submitted 1 work for Cannes 2013.
The Secret Service also aims for Lions in its portfolio, reason why it entered into the competition 11 works, down from 12 last year, while Media Concept Store submitted into competition 3 entries and CohnJansen JWT – 2 entries
Also aiming for Cannes accolades is GMP Advertising, which has 5 entries, one down compared to last year, while WebStyler doesn’t have any entries this year, after it submitted 2 in 2013.
2activePR tests this year the Cannes waters with 1 entry, same with Bizmart Oradea, Next Advertising, Three Bucharest and Optimum Media Direction Plan&Buy SRL.
After submitting 17 entries for Cannes competition last year, Saatchi&Saatchi Romania doesn’t participate to the festival this year. Other agencis that aimed for Cannes competitions during previous years but aren’t present among those that submitted entries this year are: AMPRO Design Consultin, Euromedia, MEC Romania, MindShare and Propaganda Services.
