Romanian independent communication agency SMITE, founded in 2009, closed 2014 with over half million euro turnover, a 30% increase compared to previous year. The result comes as a consequence of business consolidation, which doubled in 2013 and reached Euro 430,000.
Active on an advertising market that only slightly grew (under 5% increase in the last 2 years), SMITE’s growth is due to the investment made in the team, to the launch of new competencies (Social Media and Field Marketing) and to agency’s vision to encourage the partnership with agency’s clients with a “flat fee” policy.
2014 was a very important period for SMITE because we managed to consolidate our team and to invest in development, maintaining in the same time the direction we decided to take five years ago. Moreover, we managed to get 3 new clients although New Business wasn’t at any time our priority

Last year, the agency chose to focus more on its active clients and less on new business and provided to its clients proposals and solutions to help them develop in an efficient manner the communication campaigns. In the same time, agency’s team doubled in 2014 compared to 2013, reaching to 12 people and SMITE facilitated team’s training both personally and professionally with internal and external trainings, conferences and workshops.
One of the best decision we made last year and whose impact was visible from the very first days was to open the position of Client Service Director. Claudia Maxim’s 11 years of experience in 2 Romanian top advertising agencies, Leo Burnett and Grafitti BBDO, brought us not just a reconfiguration for the work model, projects and campaigns which were already running, but also a plus of energy and motivation inside of the team
In 2015, SMITE aims for a 50% increase of its turnover and wants to add to its team three new members. Moreover, the agency aims for a larger development related to events and in-store marketing, but when it comes of digital services.
We are aware that, at the first sight, the objective of increasing our turnover by 50% is an ambitious one, but January already brought us five new clients, which is a first and a remarkable performance. Moreover, this growth objective is supported also by our development plan: we make the step from one agency to a group of agencies. It is a project we are working on since 2014 and which we will finalize in the next period, by merging with other 2 communication agencies with complementary competencies
