Simona Suman joins Wunderman Thompson Germany from MRM/McCann Romania where she was Executive Creative Director. She replaces Michael Kutschinski, who left Wunderman Thompson on June 1st to pursue new professional opportunities.

Suman will report directly into CEO Vanessa Kerkhoff and work alongside the agency’s Executive Creative Director Myriam Fynecontry-Herke as part of an all-female management team, responsible for the creative product and further advancing DE&I at the agency. She will be the creative lead for clients including Microsoft, Beiersdorf and Bayer, among others, and will take responsibility for the output of the agency’s creative department.

Suman has been ECD at MRM Romania for the past three years, leading creative work for global brands such as Coca-Cola, KFC, Lidl, Mastercard and Sanofi, as well as local brands such as Albalact and ROM Chocolate. Under her leadership, MRM secured a raft of new business, developed new capabilities and doubled in size.

Suman is a multi-award-winning creative leader, and her vast array of international accolades includes a Gold Lion at Cannes for Mastercard’s ‘Roadside Market’ campaign in 2021, and the Grand Global Effie for KFC’s ‘Killer Discounts’ in 2022’.

The German-speaking Romanian first joined MRM in 2017 and prior to that held creative positions at McCann Erickson Romania and Young & Rubicam in the Czech Republic. She has been a jury member for top international awards shows including D&AD, LIA Awards, New York Festivals and Golden Drum.

Vanessa Kerkhoff said: “Simona’s arrival marks the end of a search for the ideal leadership team for Wunderman Thompson Germany and the beginning of a new chapter. We have managed to assemble a diverse group of top-notch talent with an international profile, all with a local connection that mirrors 1-to-1 our corporate strategy. Each one is a visionary with an impressive level of energy and expertise.

“Simona combines creative excellence in ideation with a deep, digital understanding of how to implement forward-thinking communication. We’re proud to have attracted a woman of Simona’s talent in a still male-dominated creative industry. Even more so from a region that is discussed in creative circles as the absolute hidden champion.”

Suman said: “I’m extremely proud to join the talented and ambitious team that Vanessa has assembled at Wunderman Thompson and to help fuse together the impressive array of capabilities at the agency, encompassing data, technology, and an innovation-driven process, to deliver groundbreaking and extraordinary work for our clients.”
