Paradise Lost at ASTRA Rock 2025
British gothic metal legends PARADISE LOST are closing the last day of the ASTRA Rock Festival 2025, which takes place on the weekend of August 15-17 at the ASTRA Open Air Museum in Sibiu.
After more than three decades of existence and with over two million albums sold, PARADISE LOST remain the undisputed kings of dark metal. Formed in Halifax in 1988, the band quickly became recognized as a pioneer of gothic metal from their first albums.

Throughout their career, the British have explored various musical paths, from their doom-death roots (“Gothic” – 1991) to conquering mainstream metal with an enormous and lush sound (“Icon” – 1993, “Draconian Times” – 1995), to which experimental electronic touches were later added, influencing a series of equally eclectic artists (Cradle Of Filth, HIM, Gatecreeper, Chelsea Wolfe, etc.).
This year, on September 19, PARADISE LOST releases their 17th studio album, “Ascension”, a collection of 10 new songs that cross the varied musical spectrum of the band’s arsenal, from pure heavy metal to exuberant melodies, while maintaining an irresistible melancholy in a minor key. On August 17, at ASTRA Rock Festival 2025, the British will sing the hits that brought them world fame, and Romanian fans may have the opportunity, with a little luck, to listen live and sounds from the new album.
PARADISE LOST joins the bands already announced for this year’s edition of the ASTRA Rock Festival: DOG EAT DOG, CEMETERY SKYLINE, SUBCARPAȚI, SPP, THE MONO JACKS, MIHAIL, NIȘTE BĂIEȚI, E-AN-NA and MACHIAVELLIAN GOD. The poster will be completed with other well-known bands, who will perform on the two stages of the festival, and the final line-up and concert schedule will be announced soon.
ASTRA Rock is not only about music, being an event dedicated to the whole family. Young and old are expected in the heart of nature, where they will discover the joy of creation and traditional play through workshops and activities adapted to all ages.
In addition, traditional craftsmen, specialists from the ASTRA Museum and important actors in the area of the promotion and sustainable development of protected areas will explain why heritage sets us on a sustainable path, and “ASTRA Poetic 2025” brings to the festival established or emerging poets. All of this will be complemented by traditional gastronomic surprises and a generous free camping space!

Subscriptions for the three days of the festival are available at the price of RON 250 on https://muzeulastra.funticket.app, where one-day tickets can also be purchased for the price of RON 100.
