Methodology
This study identifies the best EU cities for solo female travellers to visit using 21 metrics across five categories. Each city earns a score out of 100.
Safety represents 40 percent of the total weight. This includes the safety index, scam risk level, and safety walking alone at night. It also measures the female homicide rate, levels of violence against women, and the percentage of female only hostels. Cost accounts for 20 percent of the score. Metrics include the price of a cappuccino, an inexpensive meal, and a glass of beer. It also tracks the cost of a one night stay in a three star hotel, public transport tickets, and taxi base fees. Social comfort makes up 10 percent through English proficiency and city friendliness scores. Activities represent 15 percent by counting museums, spas, and nature parks. Convenience accounts for the final 15 percent. This looks at airport distance, walkability, ride app availability, and internet speed.
Note: The list includes the European Union, the UK, Switzerland, Norway, and the Balkans. Results change daily as business listings and traveler reviews update.
