Studiu.ai fighting the statistics as out of 100 students who start college, only 24 will work in the field they studied

In an economically and financially unstable market, young Romanians are not making the best choices regarding their academic future. A recent Eurostat study shows that we are in last place in the European Union in terms of the percentage of higher education graduates among young people, while a third of graduates who get a job do not work in the field for which they were trained.

Moreover, over 45% of young Romanians drop out of their chosen faculty, which demonstrates that they discovered along the way that they did not make the right choice for them, allowing themselves to be influenced by external factors. The faculties where the highest dropout rates are observed are history and veterinary medicine (over 55%), while at the opposite pole are medicine and dentistry (under 20%).

College graduate, unqualified employee

Another anomaly that our society is witnessing is the decision taken by some graduates to take on positions and jobs that do not require a college or master’s degree at all. And the explanations are multiple: from the lack of jobs in the chosen field, to the very high competition, and to the fact that some do not choose their field out of real passion or following relevant documentation on the chosen field.

“Every year, wrong choices cost the state and families over 3 billion lei, and the emotional impact on young people who abandon their studies or who end up working in unskilled jobs or jobs unrelated to the field they dreamed of and/or prepared for is sometimes dramatic. However, this phenomenon can be corrected if the decisions made by students together with their parents are based on clear data and access to relevant information, exactly what we aim to offer on our platform,” said Andrei Pantelimon, Founder studiu.ai.

A simple click for your correct decision

In this context, after conducting extensive research and countless preliminary discussions with both academic specialists and parents, employers, etc., an entrepreneur decided to launch the studiu.ai portal, designed to help students and parents make the most appropriate decisions regarding their professional future. Using official sources and transparent formats, the portal shows why it is important to take into account the specialization and study program (university, location and form of education) when choosing a future job. studiu.ai helps to compare specializations or study programs that those interested have in mind, because they can lead to different results in the students’ careers, but does not make recommendations regarding the choice of a program at one university or another.

Furthermore, the portal provides those interested with the data they need to validate or invalidate a decision already made.

The impact of AI on careers

Although the figures show that for now in Romania we have nothing to fear from AI and the massive disappearance of jobs because of it, being below the EU average in exposure to AI, the small figure does not measure safety, but the structure of the economy, and does not provide a guarantee that things will not change quickly in the future. Moreover, although Romania has the thinnest layer of skilled trades in the EU, half of the specializations in the top 10 preferences of young Romanians are strongly exposed to AI: law, accounting, computer science, public administration and finance-banking.

Exposure versus stability

Even in this context of uncertainty regarding the most exposed specializations, the studiu.ai portal helps young people choose between two or more specializations not only based on what suits them best, but also considering what would ensure a stable future. Thus, with an evaluation based on 520 specializations on 8 international studies, the decision can be made much better and correctly informed.

Another important mechanism that studiu.ai offers is the possibility that the user has to choose a specialization and a study program starting the search from the job they dream of / aspire to.

“To find the most suitable professional path for each student, their choice of field and study program should start from the job they want. However, very often they start the journey without checking to what extent a certain specialization can take the student where they want to go, due to the fact that the university offer does not focus enough on this direction. And this is where we intervene, providing clarity. For example, if I want to become a logistics specialist, I can start the search with the keyword logistics specialist and the platform tells me, based on the data it has, which study programs are and which specialization I should follow clearly,” explained Andrei Pantelimon, Founder studiu.ai.

In addition to all these pluses and unique tools, the portal also shows candidates the risk of replacement, the demand in the field and how to protect yourself against AI with a correctly chosen profession.

Studiu.ai analyzes, for each individual case, to what extent the job tasks can be fully automated and what barriers exist (license, liability, physical presence, relationship), as well as how the demand for specialists in the studied fields is evolving. A profession can be exposed, but still grow and offer a stable future (e.g. programmers, lawyers, cybersecurity specialists).

All data and information provided by the studiu.ai platform are free for all users.
