„The Good Alpine Life” starts at 1.400 meters, a story by Sonica

With the opening of the Radisson Blu Hotel, Sinaia Cota 1400, the brand universe and communication framework—crafted by Sonica for this new alpine lifestyle destination above Sinaia—comes to life. The property is managed by Premier Hospitality.

There are mountain hotels. And then there are places where, the moment you arrive, you feel as though you have stepped into another world. At an altitude of 1,400 meters, above Sinaia, the mountain is no longer merely a backdrop for a hotel stay; it becomes an integral part of the experience.

This is the core concept from which Sonica—an independent creative agency—began developing the strategy and communication universe for the Radisson Blu Hotel, Sinaia Cota 1400. The hotel brings together an iconic location, the strength of an international brand, and the expertise of Premier Hospitality. It embodies a concept of discreet luxury, spa, and alpine lifestyle, designed for guests who refuse to choose between nature and refinement.

The site itself carries a unique history. Conceived during the interwar period under the patronage of the Royal House, the building at Cota 1400 was originally intended as a sanatorium and opened its doors in 1939. Nearly nine decades later, this same address begins a new chapter under the Radisson Blu banner.

“We wanted to restore Cota 1400 to the place it deserves on Romania’s hospitality map—preserving what makes it unique while building an experience that resonates with a new generation of guests. Radisson Blu Hotel, Sinaia Cota 1400 is more than just a hotel in a spectacular location; it is a destination we want people to discover, to truly experience, and to long to return to.” — Călin Ile, Senior Partner, Premier Hospitality

First, the place. Then, the brand.

Surrounded by forests, ever-changing skies, and the dramatic landscape of the Bucegi Mountains, the hotel offers an experience where nature is not merely observed from afar, but lived in every moment.

You wake up with the mountain right outside your window. You step onto the terrace, and the weather has shifted—the clouds now drift below you. Breakfast stretches into a long, leisurely affair. An afternoon unfolds after hours spent in the spa. And a post-ski Negroni, before you even realize it, marks the beginning of the evening.

For Sonica, this direct connection to the location served as the strategic starting point.

What does luxury feel like when nature has already provided the extraordinary? “‘The Good Alpine Life’ was born from a desire to speak not just about the hotel, but about the life that can unfold at 1,400 meters. For the launch, we distilled the entire platform into a single message that captures the relationship between the place and the experience: Nature provided the setting. We perfected the experience.” Diana Benko, Founder & Managing Director, Sonica

Together with Diana Flutur, Business & Strategy Consultant, Sonica built the strategic foundation for the brand’s communication—from defining target audiences and consumer profiles to establishing positioning, core values, communication pillars, brand essence, and the creative territory. The altitude was not treated merely as a location; it became an integral part of the brand promise.

“We realized quite quickly that we weren’t just positioning another mountain hotel. The altitude completely transforms the experience. At 1,400 meters, you don’t set off toward the mountains each morning—you wake up right in the heart of them. From a strategic standpoint, everything that followed stemmed from this.” — Diana Flutur, Business & Strategy Consultant

From this, the invitation emerged naturally: *All you need is up here.* Because “up here” could mean the mountains right outside your window. A leisurely breakfast. A few hours at the spa. A lunch that stretches on. The first snowfall. The final ski run of the day. Or, quite simply, the luxury of not needing to be anywhere else.

One hotel. Five worlds.

At the Radisson Blu Hotel, Sinaia Cota 1400, every door can lead to a different story. Cocon Restaurant & Breakfast is a place for meals that don’t necessarily end when planned. Tonic Bar & Cigar Lounge interprets nature through the art of mixology. Forêt Kitsune Spa & Wellness is a sanctuary where the pace of life slows down. Studio 1400 Après-ski & Terrace begins exactly where the last ski run ends. And Sfinx Events Halls brings meetings, events, and experiences to the 1,400-meter mark—gatherings that take on a different rhythm at this altitude.

Sonica developed the naming and identity for the five spaces, treating them as five distinct characters within the same world: different enough for each to possess its own personality, yet closely enough related to belong to the same destination.

“Cota 1400 has an identity that didn’t need to be invented—it just needed to be highlighted. We wanted the hotel, the culinary offerings, the wellness facilities, and the social experiences to be perceived as parts of a single destination. Together with Sonica, we built a universe that connects them, while preserving the unique personality of each one.” — Octavian Moldovan, General Manager, Radisson Blu Hotel, Sinaia Cota 1400

From strategy to experience

Once the strategy and creative territory were defined, they were integrated throughout the hotel’s entire communication ecosystem—from key visuals for campaigns …digital and DOOH, the identities and applications for the five distinct experiences, and social media content.

The agency’s involvement also encompassed website copywriting direction, consulting for photography and production, media strategy and consulting, as well as PR support for the soft-opening phase and the communications leading up to the official launch.

The Good Alpine Life

A destination truly begins to exist when people build their own rituals around it. When they know which room they want to stay in. Which table by the window is “theirs.” What to order without even looking at the menu. Who they want to bring back with them.

When they return for the first snowfall, the final run of the season, the same familiar view—or simply because the place has begun to feel like home.

This is the true ambition for the Radisson Blu Hotel, Sinaia Cota 1400: to become more than just a place where people stay—to become a place they return to. Until, eventually, they no longer say they are “going to the mountains”; they say they are “going to Cota 1400.”
