Money from advertising for YouTube users

Digital & Media, Marketing

YouTube users will get money from advertising, following the introduction of a pay per click system.

The users that publish their own clips on the website will receive a part of advertising revenues obtained by the company.

YouTube’s founder, Chad Hurley, confirmed for BBC that his team is working to a mechanism to divide the ad revenues “to repay the creativity”.

The system is scheduled to be introduced in couple months and will use a mix of ads, including short clips running before the actual videos.

YouTube has over 70M users a month and was recently acquired by Google, for $1.65BN.
