Halloween can be a time for charity

Creativity, Marketing

For six years now, Leslie Hawke, Ethan Hawke’s mum and the leader of the Romanian charity Ovidiu Rom, that helps poor Romanian children, demonstrated to Romanians and not only to them that Halloween can be a charity time too.

The Halloween Charity Ball is organized by Ovidiu Rom in Bucharest for six years now and, every year, includes a themed party that has as a main target to gather money for the unfortunate kids.

The event managed, at the previous editions, to gather around Euro 400,000. 2010 was the 1st year when the money gathered crossed the half of million euro milestone.

Although it benefited of American celebrities help in the previous years – Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow each donated necklaces and Demi Moore sent a purse to be auctioned, while Madonna gave for auction a pair of shoes (ugly ones if you ask me, but the intention matters!) – and, of course, of Ethan Hawke’s presence, the ball managed this year to secure Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry support and to have as a special guest Nicholas Cage, that’s currently filming in Romania for “Ghost Rider 2”.

The 6th edition of the charity ball took place at the Palace of Parliament, also known as the House of People, the biggest building in Romania. It gathered Euro 500,000 for Ovidiu Rom’s programs, money that will be used to help 1,200 kids attend kindergarden

This year’s ball benefited of the presence of many Romanian stars, their number being higher than at the previous editions: Foreign Minister Teodor Baconschi, TV host Andreea Esca, former TV star Andreea Marin, the Romanian director Cristian Mungiu, Radu Florescu – CEO Saatchi & Saatchi Romania, Pro TV news anchor Amalia Enache, Romanian singer Margareta Pâslaru, Dana Deac , actress Laura Cosoi, musician Smiley, and also stars such as Adela Popescu, Nicoleta Luciu, Iulia Vântur and Ducu Bertzi.
