New technologies and new usage habits for Romanian consumers

GfK Romania made an online study to acknowledge how familiar are new technologies (such as cloud storage, Google glasses or electronic wallet) to Romanians and how used are they.

According to study’s findings, 4 out of 10 Romanians that use the internet heard of “cloud storage”, 12% are using such services and more than half of them, although they don’t use it, wish they would do so. There are also 30% of study’s subjects that aren’t so open towards those services and wouldn’t like to use them in the future. More than 60% of those who participated to the study consider cloud to be an useful way to store data.

AR (Augmented Reality) is known as a term by 30% of Romanian internet users that took part in the study, while 34% know about the Google glasses. Over 75% of people would like to use those 2 and two thirds consider them useful.

The study also showed that 60% of Romanian internet users found out about the possibility to pay for what they buy in stores with their smartphone and 37% know about Google Wallet. Among them, 60% are eager to use it in the future.

Smart TVs are known by 90% of Romanian internet users, with the interest for those devices being high: 83% would like to own this kind of gadget. Also, 12% stated they already own a Smart TV and 88% consider it useful.

The study was made online, on 524 Romanian internet users from urban areas, aged 15 – 54 y.o.
