Zulu Alpha Kilo creates cheeky “RFP” for Clinton and Trump campaigns

Ads, Comm & Politics, Creativity

When International agencies want to enter the U.S. market they usually set up an office in a big city like New York or Chicago. Hot on the heels of its 2016 Ad Age Small Agency of the Year win, Canadian agency Zulu Alpha Kilo has decided to send an unsolicited and hilarious video RFP to Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

“We’re going to the top baby and I’m not talking about P&G, I’m not talking about Nike. That’s small time,” says Frank Zulu, the fictional Chief Executive Executive Officer featured in the video. “By now, both your offices should have received our proprietary D.O.A.O.R.A.P – Declaration of Agency of Record Assignment Proposal. It ends with Rap and it’s funky.”

The video marks the second appearance of the company’s very unreal founder. He was first introduced for the agency’s own website – which pokes fun at the absurdities of all ad agency website and even itself – earlier this year. The character is played by veteran commercial and film actor Doug Murray who recently featured in Spotlight, 2015’s Oscar winner for Best Picture.

Whether it’s saying no to spec or using its own website to poke fun at the marketing industry, Zulu continues its unconventional spirit with this political satire.  All production was handled through Zulu’s content creation division, zulubot.
