Eurosender: Traditional food – on Romanians’ list of desired things to send via courier services

Business, Marketing, Studies

Romanians have a passion for traditional food and would like to use courier services to send items from this category all over the world. Besides traditional food, Romanians would also use the mentioned services to send DNA tests, fire wood and polenta flour. This is the conclusion Eurosender made after processing the requests received from its Romanian customers in 2018.

The weirdest and most unexpected demands for courier services received by the online platform Eurosender were related to sending

  • frozen sarmale (Balkan and Romanian specialty consisting in a mix of meat, vegetable and rice wrapped in wine or cabbage leafs) – towards multiple destinations
  • meat mix for “mici” (small kebabs) – towards multiple destinations
  • pig fat – Germany
  • Salad nursery plants – Greece
  • fire wood – Italy
  • Turtles – UK
  • Diesel machine – UK
  • DNA test – Austria
  • Polenta flour – Germany
  • Wind protector for Dacia – Germany

All those demands were registered by Eurosender’s client relations department. Despite the curiosity and the wish to deliver all sorts of packages, Eurosender doesn’t recommend sending some of the items above, as beverages, food, alive animals and weapons are among the items forbidden for sending or with a special regime.

According to Eurosender’s data, Romanians are sending packages towards countries like Germany (17%), Italy (15%), UK (15%), Spain (11%), Portugal (10%) and Netherlands (7%)

We are present in Romania for over 4 years. We think Romanians noticed they can count on our services and that is why they trust us not only to deliver the most normal objects, like books, clothes or furniture, but also personal and valuable goods
