Dev.Play, the game development conference for Eastern Europe, to take place online in November

The 2020 edition of Dev.Play, the game development conference for Eastern Europe, will take place fully online between 3-4 November 2020.

The conference will include 2 days of livestreaming, each lasting around 8 hours, through two digital stages. The main theme of this year’s edition is Innovation in Video Games. Executives from top companies such as Quantic Dream, Rovio or Google will cover topics which include cloud gaming, audio gaming, monetization trends, the new hardware generation and more.  Game Dev Business & Publishing will also return as the other main track, and the event will continue to include key features such as business matchmaking, a virtual expo, pitching opportunities and more. The conference is dedicated to game developers, investors, publishers and any other professionals interested in the game development industry.

A key change for 2020 is the addition of free-access tickets, in a limited amount and with access only to selected content.

“Our focus is building content that is relevant for today’s market, but which also predicts future trends in the local and international context. Dev.Play has become a landmark conference in the region where industry peers can network and share valuable experience. I am confident that attendees can still enjoy the best of Dev.Play in digital form, and we think that the online format can help facilitate access for people from all over the world, who may have not experienced our event before. With that in mind, we’ve created a limited offering of free-access tickets. We’re excited to kick things off in November”, mentioned Cătălin Butnariu, Dev.Play founder and President of RGDA.

Notable speakers already confirmed are Warren Spector (Otherside Entertainment), Guillaume de Fondaumiere (Quantic Dream), Jason Della Rocca (Execution Labs), Harri Manninen (Play Ventures), Alexander Pelletier-Normand (Rovio), Michael Liebe (Kickstarter), Mariusz Gasiewski (Google) and many more to be announced in the following period. Speakers who want to hold a lecture at Dev.Play can submit their application on the event’s website https://dev-play.ro/speaker-submission/

The conference will take place within a dedicated online platform, offering all the content and features participants are used to receiving at an offline event. They will be able to watch sessions and attend workshops, follow speakers, discover and network with peers (1-on-1), connect with developers, publishers and investors, attend pitching sessions, visit virtual booths with games showcased and engage with the community. Dev.Play 2020 will also bring back its Awards Gala, which will celebrate the best games showcased at the event.

Dev.Play maintains as one of its key mission to create opportunities for indie game developers from the Eastern Europe region and from all over the world. Studios can register to showcase their games at Dev.Play’s digital Indie Expo and participate at pitching competitions to get their games in front of press, publishers and investors. The Indie Expo Area has typically been one of the most successful areas of the conference, and games which were first showcased at Dev.Play went on to win awards at well-known international indie competitions or secured publishing and investment deals.
