(Adds info about the juries)

Mihai Gongu,  Creative Director Grafitti BBDO Romania, is the only Romanian present in this year’s juries at Golden Drum. He is one of the jurors in Multi-Channel Jury, presided by Michael Kutschinski, Chief Creative Officer Ogilvy&Mather – OgilvyOne Germany.

With a BSc. in Cybernetics, Mihai joined Graffiti in 2005 and became Deputy Creative Director of the agency in 2008. Between 2007 and 2009 he was also regional Creative Director on Whiskas for Central and Eastern Europe.

In 2009, Mihai spent a 6 months stint at BBDO Berlin as part of the Allianz Global Team under Jan Leube. In December 2009, he returned to Bucharest as a Creative Director of the agency.

He also judged in Eurobest in 2011 and The New York Festivals in 2012 and tutored at the local Cannes Lions Academy after being a member of the first Romanian Young Lions Team in 2005.

Organizers of 19th Golden Drum International Advertising Festival of New Europe, to take place on October 2-5 2012 in Portorož (Slovenia), announced the members of Single Channel and Multi Channel Juries, with each jury consisting in 11 top experts from communication and creative industry that will be judging this year’s entries in 16 competition groups.

Single Channel Jury will be lead by its president Pawel Hainze with the help of Aljoša Bagola, Martin Dimitrov, Lajos Horváth, Jean-Paul Lefebvre, Róbert Slovák, Tereza Sverakova, Alistair Thompson, Juan Pablo Valencia, Folker Wrage and Shahir Zag.

Multi Channel Jury is composed of Michael Kutschinski, president, and Mihai Gongu, Aleksandra Kolarić, Dan O’Donoghue, Alemsah Ozturk, Katja Petrin Dornik, Anja Radulović, Nir Refuah, Eric Schoeffler, Grigory Sorokin and Jacek Szulecki.

Golden Drum has last year surprised industry experts by dividing the Golden Drum Competition in two sections, Single Channel and Multi Channel, judged by two separate juries. The first year experience was more than excellent. With the new structure of the competition groups and categories, the entrants gained better oversight and a possibility to enter individual elements from the advertising campaigns in different sections, evaluated by different criteria.

Members of the jury have recognized the novelty as “jury friendly”, because the individual juries could focus on chosen criteria that didn’t had to be altered from group to group. The participants of the festival could in the end compare the results of both juries’ decisions, especially in the case, where individual ads from the Single Channel section also appeared as elements of campaigns in Multi Channel section. Could an excellent film “bring to stage” the whole campaign or was there something more needed for succeeding in the Multi Channel section?

As this year’s participants of the Golden Drum Festival, we will be able to pose similar questions. The original competition formula remains the most distinctive attribute of the Golden Drum Festival which awards the creativity of New Europe.
