Georgiana Dragomir (Grapefruit): My development took determination

Business, People, Women in Business

As March is a month when women are celebrated, AdHugger asked a few professionals with a remarkable career to tell us their views on developing their career as women working in the communication industry. And Georgiana Dragomir, Managing Director Grapefruit, offered us her view over the matter.

  • How hard was to develop your career?

I wouldn’t qualify the difficulty of my development, I would just say that it took determination. The first several years had a steep learning curve and, after that, I just kept working on what I had learned. As the business and the team are growing the challenges are different and I am confronting myself with completely new situations, thus making it a continuous learning stage

  • What were the main obstacles to surpass?

It’s very hard to balance things in your life just the right way. If you’re not careful, you might end up neglecting your family and even yourself. Sometimes, work just tries to take over. But, starting this year, I began being more careful at the work-life balance and the changes at work, something I wouldn’t have done the past years.

  • How did you managed to achieve success?

Through constant improvement and efficiency hacking. I’m not afraid of making mistakes and learning from them. And yes, also, I am not afraid of admitting to say I don’t know how to approach a certain situation and I choose to work with specialists.

  • What do you think today’s industry would need more?

I think it needs more transparency and value for the end user. With today’s social media, companies should focus on building an audience rather than selling.

  • Top 3 things to follow during the current year:

Machine learning, video content and automations.
