Elefant.ro runs flash sales campaigns and offers to its clients, on daily basis, discounts of up to 75% for bought products. The company estimates the Romanian flash sales market at Euro 55M in 2012.

After a series of pilot campaigns ran from January to April, Elefant.ro officially enters flash sales market, a first on Romanian online e-commerce, and is the first online store that expands the flash sales concept towards book sector.

On daily basis, elefant.ro’s loyal clients will have access to the most wanted titles, as part as Happy Days campaigns. Later on, Happy Days campaigns will expand to cover also other categories of products listed on elefant.ro.

“Flash sales” is an e-commerce business model through which an online store sells its products with important discounts, during short campaigns. The concept developed in Romania once with the apparition of websites that sell fashion products and home deco, exclusively with discount campaigns.

According to elefant.ro’s estimates, Romanian flash sales market was of Euro 55M in 2012. At international level, considering the general growth of e-commerce and the desire of buyers to buy products at as convenient prices as possible, flash sales sector doubled its value last year, reaching to over $200M in US.

In Romania, the first online businesses that introduced this model appeared in 2009-2010, being initially exclusive clubs for fashion buys.
