Visa launches in Romania “Perhaps the simplest promotions worldwide”

Business, e-Commerce

Visa Europe runs during the winter holidays several initiatives aimed at fostering card payments, offering prizes in money and shopping vouchers to Romanians who pay by card in stores and online.

Visa’s traditional winter campaign runs until December 31, under the slogan “Perhaps the simplest promotion worldwide”, given that the participation is not conditioned by codes, receipts or text messages. Every payment with a Visa card is automatically registered in the weekly lucky draws, while contactless payments offer double winning chances.

A prize of EUR 1,000 is awarded every day for purchases paid by card in stores and online. All holders of Visa cards issued by the banks in Romania, who make at least one payment in store or online, at local or foreign merchants, are automatically enrolled in the campaign.

December 23rd is traditionally the busiest day of the year for payments with Visa cards, as Romanians paid on average nearly EUR 1.5 million per hour at merchants last year. The largest payments are made in supermarkets, fashion stores and petrol stations. We expect to see an increase in the value of purchases this year, given that the private consumption has grown by over 15% in the first nine months of the year[1]. Through our campaigns, we aim to encourage cardholders to use their cards for payments in stores, while cardholders who wish to save time can pay their Christmas shopping rapidly and easily, online or using any mobile devices

General Manager for Romania, Croatia, Malta and Slovenia, Visa Europe

Moreover, cardholders who activate for the first time the “Pay by 1 click” option on the websites or mobile apps of eMAG and Fashion Days until December 31st and pay with a Visa card for purchases amounting to minimum RON 200 are rewarded with vouchers of RON 50, which can be used for shopping by January 31st, 2017.

“Pay by 1 click” option offers the most comfortable payment experience, given that the user introduces the card data once, when activating the service, and afterwards pays rapidly. Merchants don’t store or register the card data at any moment. Furthermore, an encrypted code is associated with the card every time the cardholder makes a payment.

We are continuously trying to improve the online purchasing experience. We want to offer customers the simplest payment method and, in the same time, reward those who pay by 1-click for the first time, which is the simplest way to shop online

Tudor Manea,

General Manager eMAG Romania

For our clients, online shopping means fast and easy access to the products they want to buy, a unique experience and a way of life. With every quality service launched we try to adapt to the customers’ needs and to increase their trust in e-commerce. The partnership with Visa, through which we reward the customers who choose to buy products using the “Pay by 1 click” option, represents a further step taken towards improving the payment experience

Chief Marketing Officer Fashion Days
