Propel, the leading PR Management platform (PRM), has announced the release of PitchBooster, a new feature within the Propel Gmail and Outlook plugins. The tool utilizes AI to optimize the email pitch send time for each journalist, based on the day of week and time of day when each is most likely to open and respond to pitches.

Journalists receive hundreds of emails per day, making getting a pitch noticed difficult. While PR professionals attempt to work around this by writing engaging subject lines, this is no longer enough. They also need to take into account what time a journalist is likely to be in front of their computer or looking at their phone to read the pitch itself. Timing is everything, and if a pitch is sent during the wrong hours, the likelihood of a journalist seeing the pitch falls dramatically and creates a situation whereby people in PR receive lower coverage results than expected.

Therefore, Propel developed PitchBooster to increase the chances that a journalist will actually read a pitch. The feature uses AI to analyze millions of real PR pitches and journalist engagement to automatically schedule pitches to go out at the time and day a journalist is most likely to engage with a pitch. This not only increases the probability of a journalist opening and responding to the pitch, but also ensures that journalists themselves don’t miss out on an interesting story angle which otherwise may have been buried by the hundreds of other emails pouring in.

Zach Cutler, Propel Co-Founder, CEO & Chairman

“We’ve analyzed the data and found that journalists are only responding to 3.25% of the pitches they receive,”

“A PR professional can craft the greatest pitch ever written, but if it’s sent to a journalist when they aren’t looking at their emails, it may get lost in the tsunami of other pitches the journalist receives every day. By using PitchBooster, people in communications are able to increase their chances of getting their story seen. We’re proud to introduce this unique tool to the PR industry, which will enable PR professionals to pitch more effectively while enabling journalists to receive story ideas at a time which is convenient for them.”
