Cannes Lions 2012: Wonderful diversity in the seminars

Creativity

The CannesLions International Festival of Creativity is about to begin, from the 17th until the 23 of June. The top of the global creative industry gather on the French Riviera to learn, debate, but mostly to get inspired.

Not only will the lucky delegates see the work that has pushed the creative communications’  boundaries, but they will get the chance to learn how to do so, and a lot more, from the diversity of experts that will be holding the seminars.

Besides the Grand Prix winners of last years, the top executives from every big agency in the world and advertising legends like Sir John Heggarty (BBH), Paula Green (former copy at DDB) and Michael Conrad (President of the Berlin School of Creative Leadership), unexpected guests from so many different areas have been invited to spice up the talks.

Former US President Bill Clinton was invited by GrupoABC, the largest communications group in Latin America to celebrate its 10th anniversary and to talk about how advertising can help build a better world. Under his leadership, the country enjoyed the strongest economy in a generation and the longest economic expansion in US history, including the creation of more than 22 million jobs. He also has a lot of charities, and would know how good advertising can create awareness, and solve many of today`s problems.

Public excitement is growing just days ahead of the UEFA EURO and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. CannesLions’ seminars have got that covered.

Another fancy speaker is Romanian legend and former gymnast, Nadia Comaneci. Even though Nadia won a total of nine Olympic medals, five of them gold, she will always be remembered at the first gymnast to score a perfect 10 and leave her indelible mark on the history of the Olympics. She will speak at the Visa & TBWA seminar “The Making of a Global Olympics Marketing Campaign – Right Approach, Right Message, Right Time”, along Antonio Lucio (Global Chief Marketing VISA), Patrick O`Neill (Executive Creative Officer TBWA\CHIAT\DAY LA), Timo Lumme (Managing Director IOC Television & Marketing Services) and Rupal Parekh (Agency Editor Ad Age) who will be moderating the discussion.

Former football superstar, Ronaldo Nazario de Lima is one of the most famous faces and one of the most influential personalities in the world. He will be debating about how companies from Brazil and the rest of the continent will have the chance to show themselves on a global stage, in the context in which Latin America will host both the FIFA World Cup and the Olympic and Paralympic Games in the next four years.

The music industry has it`s unique place at the biggest creativity festival in the world. Smokey Robinson, Debbie Harry (Blondie lead singer/songwriter), Mark Ronson and a few more, will be talking about the place of music in advertising and it`s role in the creative process.

Over 50 seminars and 30 workshops will be held during the seven days of the festival, so diversity and professionalism are probably the best words to describe it. If you`re not lucky enough to attend CannesLions, stay tuned with Adhugger. We will bring you in-time articles of the most interesting information that will be shared, the winners and the exquisite moments.
