Romanian Hippos, creatively involved with Open 15 Venice

Hippos is in charge with the creative part for the international artistic event Open 15 | International Exhibition of  Sculptures and Installations, organized in Venice, in September 2012. The Romanian agency won the creative account of the event a few months ago and made for the 2012 edition of the event the visual identity, the branding and an event that combines social media with Contemporary Art

Open 15 creative account is a project we wanted and that honors us because it gave us an atypical challenge: to use creativity in promoting such an important international artistic event,  completing in a neutral way the conceptual structure without distracting attention from project’s content. Moreover, it offered us the opportunity to start a discussion on the actual state of culture and art in general and to bring our contribution to the interactions taking place during the event organized in Venice this year

Besides realizing the visual identity and the branding elements for Open 15, Hippos also made a manifesto-instalation – Open Shout Campaign – that aims to underline nowadays status of culture and the way it is felt in everyday’s life.

The manifesto-instalation includes a dedicated Facebook app, that will come to life in a real art installation to be exhibited on Venice’s San Servolo island during the event. This will offer artists and art fans from all over the world to bring their contribution and be part of September’s event

Available online stating August 15th, the Open Shout app invites Facebook users to upload photos in which they are shouting, together with an explanatory message related to their shout for art. The photos uploaded until August 25th will be transformed in flags that will be placed on San Servolo island, for the official opening of Open 15. Each flag will include the image of a person, his/her message, the name and the country they are from.

Hippos is an agency with passion for art and that supports culture at international level and that is why we wanted, besides answering brief’s demands and creating creative and relevant identity and branding for Open 15, to bring also out contribution to the efforts to support the artistic act – this are the ideas behind Open Shout campaign

Open is an international exhibition of sculptures and installations organized annually in Lido di Venezia. The event reunites artist from all over the world and is based on a successful concept, consolidated, in which “artist-country” exhibitions are combined with the free open-air spaces of Venice, creating a platform dedicated to exchange and interaction that aims to rethink and redefine nowadays status of art.

Open 15 is organized by Arte Communications, together with the Culture Council’s Office from Venice Municipality and under the patronage of Italian Foreign and Cultural Affairs Minister, together with Foreign Countries Embassies, Regione Veneto, Venice’s Prefecture and City Hall.

Hippos is a full service creative agency with 8 years of activity on Romanian market. The agency offers its clients integrated services of identity, creation, strategy, production, digital, media buying and PR.
