Mobile Ad Spending in US – Up 80% in 2010, will surpass $1BN in 2011

Mobile ad spending in US increased substantially in 2010, according to US ad spending estimates by eMarketer.

According to these estimations, mobile ad spending will be up 79% to reach $743 million in US, and will reach over $1.1 BN in 2011 and be more than $2.5 BN in 2014.

Video, display and search ad spending on mobile will all more than double in 2010, according to forecast, that also points to a growth in messaging advertising, but less than for the more sophisticated mobile formats.

For now, SMS is still the largest format, with spending of $327 million estimated for 2010.
